Jul 3: Thickbox Javascript Not working

Over the past two days on trying to get a script called Lightbox JS and Thickbox JS to work with this blog software. What do these scripts do? Well it's very simple, if you want to have an image in your content, there are several ways in which this can be done.
  • By having the image at an ok size to fit into you comment.
  • By having a thumbnail that links to a bigger image that can load up in a new window, or a popup window
  • You have a smart easy to use java script to load up the full sized image over the page, not in a new window.
It's the last way that both of these scripts work, I am hoping to find a way to get both of the scripts to work at the in the same site without disturbing each other, I am sure it can be done on a normal HTML based website as both use different ways to call up the script. SO I am using thickbox script which I find is better as it has a smaller file size.
Here's a nice picture of a cloud cover and colour.

OK, so after bashing around, I have come to the conclusion that the thickbox script won't work with version 1.0 of serendipity, but I will try  on a clean install when I get a moment. So I'm going back to lightbox v2.02 which is what you see above.

Update! After a day of playin' around... the thickbox script now appears to be working. but not here.... the big question now is why?!

I tried it and the picture comes out quite nicely and smoothly in a full screen, but when I hit the 'Back' button on my browswer (Opera 8.54) I was taken back to the page I was on before I came to yours...

Ahh. the whole idea is that you don't have to go back for forwards, you click on the image, it comes up, click on the close icon on the bottom right and the image disappears back to the page so to speak. ;-)

ah this is so interesting ... as on another friends site they called for funny photos ( it's along story ) so I'll TRY to get to the point ... anyway this guy suggested I upload the pic and use 'photo bucket' and then use that to put the pic in my comment ... well what alot of trouble I had ... I didnt tag it I url'ed it and then I did something else wrong and in the end I did it but the pic was use super large and looked really silly ..he wouldn't help me as he didn't want to interrupt my learning !!!! so in the end I just deleted everything which was a little disappointing .. . but I am going to re read what you ahve written here ( it is like a foreign language to me !!) and see if I can learn something ! Thanks Andy ! Virg
