Ok, so he let his grand son download 4 films from the internet. The kid didn't really understand that it was illegal, anyway, they did have fully legal copies of the 4 films. So was the action completely illegal?
The films in question were "The Incredibles," "I, Robot," "The Grudge," and "The Forgotten" Personnally, I can't forgive the kid for downloading I Robot that was a seriously crap film, mainly a 1h2m comercial for a whole list of products (that I will not mention as I might get asked to pay up or shut up)
The Gudge, Cool film, strange and a rather odd story, basically the point of the story is that having a serious grudge can get you killed.
The Incredibles, Very fun film if you are into cartoons, good fun for both adults (who get the subtile jokes) and for the kids that splapstick humour.
The forgotton, have forgotten what that's all about. But I gather it has Demi Moore in it, nothing special.
Back to the Grand dad being sued, The entertainment industry has been trying since the days of napster (before it was bought out buy Roxio/Adaptec a few years back. The Industy makes a point of trying to sue it's own customers.
They try and put in some serious copy protection that can make your system complete venerable to

Has any of this sueing stopped or slowed down the P2P networks? Not really. The main reason is that the consumers are begining to get sick and tired of being presumed guilty or that are assumed to be pirates before you even get an audio CD/DVD.
The movie industry makes a lot more money and profits from the selling of the DVD's of the films. The films are now mainly adverts for you to get the DVD in the next few months, depending on how crappy the film is, will dictate when the DVD will be out. Crappy films the dvd is out in 2 months or so, a good film will be 6 months or more. Really crappy films will try and get you to get the whole film again and claim that there is (
Titanic 4 Dvd Collection ) are so and so many diffennt scenes added or were deleted before etc.
I can see in the next 6 months or so that your Blockbusters or DVD rental will allow you to download/rent a film for a small fee, you download it to your PC media centre and play it on your HDTV (High Definition TV) you can already do that here at
CinemaNow .
So for the media companies, it's time to change with the times or you will die, Apple Itunes and the likes are showing the way things will be done in the future.
